Week 14 – I will persist until I succeed

Today is Saturday 01/01/11 at 11:45 PM as I write this.

I’m sorry I didn’t get to write my last blog post of the year last night, but I spent some well-deserved time with the family volunteering at the kids craft are at First Night Saint Louis .

Yesterday we finally finished Scroll 3 of Ogg Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World.
The basic premise of this scroll was this “I will persist until I succeed”.

What it talked about is basically to stay the course WHEN (not *IF*) difficulties of many kinds come your way. And I know I’ve had my share this month! But I have not given up, and am learning to push through them!

Tomorrow night we pick up with Week 15 of the MKMMA class and I can’t wait! How about you?

Blogroll updated

Thanks to what I saw in the keyclub, I’ve updated the blogroll.

Here are the instructions to do it yourself!

1.If you already have a blog roll—go to your dashboard, select ‘links’ and delete the blogroll you have there. Then go to your ‘tools’ and select import and paste this (after removing the http:// already there). http://blogrolltest1.wordpress.com/wp-links-opml.php. Once the blog list is transferred go to the bottom of the transfer page and select ‘manage’…everything should then be done for you.

2. If you have not yet put a Blog Roll on your Blog page…first go to your Dashboard and select Appearance then widgets…drag the ‘Links’ widget button to the side bar area and make sure it says blog roll…then proceed as above ‘cept you won’t have to delete an existing Blog Roll link, duh!

Week 13 – The Dreams of the Dreamer

Today is Monday 12/27/2010 at 11:30 PM as I write this.

Welcome back!

I trust you all had an excellent time with family and friends as my family and I did. We took a short trip up to Chicago to see my folks and came back late last night.

In our MKMMA journey, we’ve now finished Week 13 and as usual, I have some tidbits that I’ve found useful.

I love these 2 quotes from Week 13:

16. Thought will bring about conditions in correspondence with
the predominant mental attitude. Therefore, if we fear
disaster, as fear is a powerful form of thought, disaster will be
the certain result of our thinking. It is this form of thought
which frequently sweeps away the result of many years of toil
and effort.
17. If we think of some form of material wealth we may secure
it. By concentrated thought the required conditions will be
brought about, and the proper effort put forth, which will
result in bringing about the circumstances necessary to realize
our desires; but we often find that when we secure the things
we thought we wanted, they do not have the effect we
expected. That is, the satisfaction is only temporary, or
possibly is the reverse of what we expected.

The whole point is, as I’ve said before, that what we think about can very well come to fruition, whether that be good things or bad!

But you must work at it! Take Tiger Woods for example. He’s one of the world’s best golfers, but he didn’t get there by accident. He puts forth a huge amount of effort in daily practice hitting ball after ball, and most importantly visualizing it going into the cup every time!

Tiger Woods

What about you? What thoughts are you putting into your mind?

Week 12 – are you a lion?

It is 12:46 AM on 12/20/2010 as I write this.

Mark and Davene were in true form tonight on the Week 13/14 call tonight  as usual. My wife and I put the kids to bed and couldn’t sleep myself, so thought I’d write Week 12 before I woke Monday morning and life got in the way as it typically does these days. Now the only time constraint I have is sleep itself! 🙂

As I read Week 12 of the Master Key this week. One phrase really stood out to me. “You must first have the knowledge of your power; second the courage to dare; third, the faith to do.

Each night when we put the kids to bed, we’ve been listening to an audio version of The Red Pyramid by Richard Riordan. Tonight one phrase that is similar stood out. It went something like this “the gods have much power, but only man is creative”.

I took this to mean that this is what sets us humans apart – we can THINK, and THINK CREATIVELY!

In other words, knowledge, just for knowledge sake, isn’t anything! We must dare to ACT on what we know or what we learn and CREATE something!

And it is through this very course that we’re learning how to re-program our MINDS from the old way of thinking….lack…fear…I can’t….. into abundance, boldnes, I CAN BE WHAT I WILL TO BE!

This may mean different things for different people. For me, since I’m in an MLM greeting card business, the old way of thinking is that no one wants to hear about my business, I’m afraid of the phone, afraid of rejection, I just can’t do it! But through this course, I’m learning, albeit slower than I would like (I’m a very impatient person!) how to REPLACE those thoughts with the knowledge that people DO want to hear about my business, that I CAN overcome the fear of the phone and rejection and that I CAN DO IT! I’m not like The Little Engine That Could (“I think I can…I think  I can…I think I can!) but am like as Ogg Mandino says in Scroll III of The Greatest Salesman In the world, “I am a lion, and I refuse to talk, to walk,to sleep with the sheep“.

So I ask you, are you a lion?

Week 11 – You’re Fired!

Today is Saturday 12/11/2010 at 10:30 PM as I write this.

I am so glad to see so many comments on Week 10. It really warms my heart.

Because unfortunately, this week hasn’t been much better.

I’ve been doing my daily readings and keeping up with that okay, but I fell off the wagon on dials and didn’t make ANY calls this week!

I know next week is another week, so on Monday I will pick myself back up, dust myself off and continue onward and upward.

This week we’ve been reading Week 11 of the Master Key.

The general premise this week is a continuation of what we’ve been studying. What I got out of it is this — things don’t just happen by blind chance. What you think on has a synergistic effect. A bunch of seemingly small and insignificant things can add up.

Here’s a good example (note to self!): I work at a call center redeeming rewards 2nd shift. I took this job almost 2 years ago at a 40% cut in pay vs. going on unemployment because it was available and I wanted the dignity of working and not being paid to sit on my but and look for work. I have to sit down at my desk and answer the phones the entire 8 hour shift, and every second of my time down to my bathroom breaks are micro managed under a microscope. I absolutely HATE being micro managed and treated like a preschooler for much less pay than I know I am worth. I sometimes dream of being fired so I could go on unemployment while I look for a job in my field (computer tech support, hands on vs. phone) and also growing my home business. But I must be careful what I wish for, because if I continue on this negative train of thought, and not do my 100% best effort despite what I like or don’t like about it, my wish may come true!

And I’d only have myself to blame! Because I thought it. I nursed it. Even subconsciously I told myself I don’t want to work here. And if it happens, it should be no surprise.

Instead what I need to do is start training my mind and brain and self conscious mind to do the very best that I can do given the circumstances, to stop the complaining to myself and others, and to look for the good things that do happen at work. It’s easier said than done, but I’m working on it little…by…little.

I will persist until I succeed!
